Llama

Native to the Andes Mountains of South America, primarily in Peru and Bolivia - Gestation: about 11 - 12 months

The llama is a fascinating domesticated South American camelid, revered for its versatility as a meat and pack animal by Andean cultures since the pre-Columbian era. Llamas are incredibly social creatures, thriving in the company of others within a herd. Their wool, renowned for its softness and minimal lanolin content, has myriad practical uses. Furthermore, llamas display remarkable intelligence, readily mastering simple tasks through a mere handful of repetitions. And here’s a fun fact: distinguishing a llama from an alpaca is as easy as noting that llamas are approximately twice the size of alpacas and boast significantly longer ears!
